Outside My Window…an unseasonably warm October afternoon. It’s in the low 70s at the moment and will reach almost 80ยฐ this today. This is one of the wonderful things about living in Sacramento ๐Ÿ™‚ The cats are in the backyard basking in the afternoon sunshine. I love days like this.

I am thinking…that growth is difficult.

I am thankful for…flowers ๐Ÿ™‚

From the kitchen…this afternoon I’ll be making a Tortellini Vegetable Stew. I found the recipe on The Crepes of Wrath blog, and it looks like a yummy stew for lunch this week. I’ll also be preparing some cornbread to go alongside.

I am wearing…a very comfortable summer dress in shades of green, teal, navy blue, and purples. It has a nice Hawaiian feel to it.

I am creating…Friday evening I made 3 different mini muffin recipes and also decorated 3 baskets to hold each batch.

I am going…to the grocery store in a couple of hours. I have to do the food shopping for the week, and I also received a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase that’s only good through today.

I am reading…Whirlwind by Cathy Marie Hake.

I am hoping…that I do use my gym membership which I reactivated last week after a long, long time on hold.

I am hearing…the dryer running and Sarah Palin on C-Span.

Around the house…I’ve made a little progress with organizing, so I’m feeling good about that ๐Ÿ™‚

One of my favorite things…is sharing yummy recipes…look down the page for some yummy mini muffin recipes!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Nothing new…more organizing and cleaning around the house, hoping to hear from an Avon rep, I’d like to begin selling Avon soon.

Here is picture thought I am sharing…

We took our niece and nephew to the zoo yesterday. It was great! They had a lot of fun as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Outside My Window…it’s been a blustery weekend. The weather has changed, and leaves are turning. A neighbor is watering her lawn, and the sun is setting.

I am thinking…about the movie “Fireproof”, which DSH and I saw yesterday afternoon. It was a very good movie with a lot to think about. I realize the acting isn’t that great in some parts, but overall these amateurs did a wonderful job of conveying the emotion and heart of this movie. I loved everything about it and am looking forward to more movies by Sherwood Productions.

I am thankful for…hope.

From the kitchen…I’m currently fixing some chili (my mom’s midwestern version, a true chili aficionado would scoff at calling this chili ๐Ÿ˜› ) and will soon begin fixing our breakfast for the week.

I am wearing…sweats!!! It’s brisk, summer is gone.

I am creating…a calendar of due dates for all our bills so that we know what’s due when.

I am going…to make sure our bedding is dry and then make our bed.

I am reading…“Don’t Know Much About History”, an overview of American history.

I am hoping…that it won’t cost too much to get the moonroof repaired in my car. Something in the track broke and it’s stuck in the open vent position. It wasn’t a huge problem in summer due to no rain, but with rain season nearly here it’s a problem. I also can’t wash my car, so my beautiful Cruiser is dirty. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I am hearing…the wind in the leaves and House Hunters on tv.

Around the house…we are slowly – very slowly – getting things into order. It’s amazing how much stuff we have and how much time it takes to get it all in order.

One of my favorite things…Honeycrisp apples, and it’s the time of year when they’re in season!!! Yummmm….if you’ve never had a Honeycrisp apple, you need to try one. They’re delicious ๐Ÿ™‚ Firm and crisp, tart and sweet.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: We need to take my car to the dealer to get the moonroof fixed, on Wednesday night I’d like to watch the last debate, but our small group bible study is also meeting, so I think I’ll be late for that. On Friday and Saturday I’ll be attending a Donna Partow conference, and on Sunday it’s my day to set up the donuts and coffee and clean up afterwards. I am also planning to make this recipe tomorrow night after work.

Here is picture thought I am sharing…Honeycrisp apples ๐Ÿ™‚

A quick apple coring tip – use a melon baller to core the apple, it’s quick and easy! (I learned this on Good Eats, the best and most fun cooking show on TV ๐Ÿ˜€ )

Outside My Window…it’s a beautiful morning. The breeze is whispering through the trees, it’s a little cool and the sun is shining. I can hear someone’s car starting up and the chirping of birds.

I am thinking…that I enjoy days when I stay home from work. I wish I didn’t have to work, maybe someday

I am thankful for…a husband that works as hard as DSH works, who would like to make it possible for me to not have to work outside the home someday

From the kitchen…I am going to make my mom’s version of chili today and DSH and I will have it for lunch this week. I’m also going to slice up a red cabbage, some cucumbers and also some cherry tomatoes (these are from our garden) and mix them with apple cider vinegar for my husband.

I am wearing…tan shorts, a pretty ivory and khaki patterned sleeveless shirt that I bought on clearance at Walmart in Paso Robles when DSH and I were on our honeymoon in Cambria, California

I am creating…a somewhat more organized living room today ๐Ÿ˜›

I am going…to do some cleaning today

I am reading…Brsingr by Christopher Paolini

I am hoping…that I actually do get something done around the house since I’m staying home from work today

I am hearing…Hawaiian music from the Hawaiian music channel available on Dish Satellite TV. It’s my cleaning music ๐Ÿ™‚

Around the house…I have all the windows open so I can enjoy the breeze and the fresh air

One of my favorite things…Apple Hill ๐Ÿ˜‰ My mom and I went there this last Saturday and had a wonderful time. I have a post up with photos from the trip

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Today I’m planning to make chili. Tomorrow I’m planning to buy the ingredients for a cheesy hashbrown casserole that I’ll be preparing after work on Wednesday night to bring to our small group bible study. Small groups at our church break for the summer and start up again in September after the Small Group Fair we hold on a Sunday morning. I love our small group and can’t wait to meet again this Wednesday! It’s our open house and we’re having a potluck.

Here is picture thought I am sharing

These are Gravenstein apples.ย  I thought they were gorgeous with the different colors and striping ๐Ÿ™‚

FOR YESTERDAY
September 14th, 2008…

Outside My Window…I can hear the hum of a lawnmower in the distance along with the squeals and laughter of some children playing. The days aren’t as hot as they were a couple of weeks ago, which is nice.

I am thinking…that I’m glad that I was asked to join the women’s ministry at my church. Tonight is my first meeting and I’m looking forward to it.

I am thankful for…a husband who has been blessed with patience and much perseverance, and who loves me

From the kitchen…tonight I am fixing a meatloaf and a squash casserole for lunches this week. I used one of the huge squashes from the garden.

I am wearing…a sleeveless dress with a dark, dark brown background and a floral design in rusts, golds, creams and browns.

I am creating…a scarf for my husband! I’m teaching myself to crochet, and my first project will be a scarf for my husband to use this winter

I am going…to go out into the backyard once I’m done writing this and check on the cats. We allow them outside only when we’re home

I am reading…Calico Canyon by Mary Connealy. It’s very good!

I am hoping…that there is plenty of rain this winter

I am hearing…Alton Brown on Iron Chef America

Around the house…my project for this week is getting all of my clothes organized and put away, as well as giving the clothes I didn’t wear at all this year to a thrift store.

One of my favorite things…my husband!

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Organizing my clothing, staying caught up with my data entry at work, getting together with my former roommate to discuss having her come over to do some housecleaning twice a month (she does housecleaning on the side), going through at least two of the storage tubs that are currently in the living room.

Here is picture thought I am sharing

This is the view from my backyard in spring from about 3 years ago. There are two empty lots behind my house, and it feels a little like living in the country. I love it!

FOR YESTERDAY Sunday, September 6th, 2008…

Outside My Window…it’s a beautiful late summer afternoon.ย  The sun is shining, there’s a gentle breeze rustling through the leaves of the trees and bushes, it’s a serene afternoon.

I am thinking…I love late summer/early autumn days.ย  There’s something about the transitional seasons that restores my soul and fills me with peace

I am thankful for…this home in which I’ve lived for over 17 years

From the kitchen…today I’ll be preparing lunches for the week for me and DSH.ย  I’ll be making chicken monterey and a summer vegetable risotto on the side, using some squash, tomatoes and herbs from our garden.

I am wearing…one of my favorite dresses, a gorgeous dark blue, green, teal and purple hawaiian patterned dress.ย  It’s very comfortable

I am creating…this blog!ย  I’ve blogged before and got discouraged, so this blog is a new beginning for me ๐Ÿ™‚

I am going…to do some laundry this evening and watch America’s Funniest Home Videos (if it’s on).

I am reading…tomorrow at work during my breaks and lunch I will begin reading Peculiar Treasures by Robin Jones Gunn.ย  I’m a fan of her books, and even though I’m in my (early!!!) 40s, I enjoyed the Christy Miller series for teenage girls.ย  This book focuses on one of Christy’s friends, Katie Weldon.

I am hoping…that Sarah Palin continues to do well, and that the slanders against her are ineffective.

I am hearing…some Hosanna Integrity praise and worship music.ย  I went to Goodwill after church today and found 5 Hosanna Integrity praise and worship CDs for $3 each.ย  These were popular in the late 80s/early 90s when I first became a Christian, and they’re bringing back good memories.

Around the house…I have to do some cleaning and organizing.ย  I married earlier this year and my DSH came with a lot of his grandmother’s stuff that he inherited.ย  My house is beyond full and we need to pare down so that when we eventually have to move we don’t have to move so much stuff.

One of my favorite things…a lazy Sunday afternoon

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: I’ll be working at my current temp assignment this week.ย  Tomorrow after work I need to get my car smog checked so I can get it registered for another year.ย  On Tuesday DSH and I have a 7pm appointment to begin working on our schedule…what needs to be paid, any concerns either of us may have, plans, appointments, stuff like that.ย  I think it’ll help us become more of a team instead of each of us doing our own thing and not knowing what’s important to each other.ย  Evenings during the rest of the week are open right now, but one thing I could do is go through all my clothes and figure out what I have for autumn.

Here is picture thought I am sharing
