FOR TODAY

Outside My Window…it’s been a blustery weekend. The weather has changed, and leaves are turning. A neighbor is watering her lawn, and the sun is setting.
I am thinking…about the movie “Fireproof”, which DSH and I saw yesterday afternoon. It was a very good movie with a lot to think about. I realize the acting isn’t that great in some parts, but overall these amateurs did a wonderful job of conveying the emotion and heart of this movie. I loved everything about it and am looking forward to more movies by Sherwood Productions.
I am thankful for…hope.
From the kitchen…I’m currently fixing some chili (my mom’s midwestern version, a true chili aficionado would scoff at calling this chili
) and will soon begin fixing our breakfast for the week.
I am wearing…sweats!!! It’s brisk, summer is gone.
I am creating…a calendar of due dates for all our bills so that we know what’s due when.
I am going…to make sure our bedding is dry and then make our bed.
I am reading…“Don’t Know Much About History”, an overview of American history.
I am hoping…that it won’t cost too much to get the moonroof repaired in my car. Something in the track broke and it’s stuck in the open vent position. It wasn’t a huge problem in summer due to no rain, but with rain season nearly here it’s a problem. I also can’t wash my car, so my beautiful Cruiser is dirty.
I am hearing…the wind in the leaves and House Hunters on tv.
Around the house…we are slowly – very slowly – getting things into order. It’s amazing how much stuff we have and how much time it takes to get it all in order.
One of my favorite things…Honeycrisp apples, and it’s the time of year when they’re in season!!! Yummmm….if you’ve never had a Honeycrisp apple, you need to try one. They’re delicious
Firm and crisp, tart and sweet.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: We need to take my car to the dealer to get the moonroof fixed, on Wednesday night I’d like to watch the last debate, but our small group bible study is also meeting, so I think I’ll be late for that. On Friday and Saturday I’ll be attending a Donna Partow conference, and on Sunday it’s my day to set up the donuts and coffee and clean up afterwards. I am also planning to make this recipe tomorrow night after work.
Here is picture thought I am sharing…Honeycrisp apples

A quick apple coring tip – use a melon baller to core the apple, it’s quick and easy! (I learned this on Good Eats, the best and most fun cooking show on TV
)

We just discovered honeycrisp apples last year and now we crave them! Going to the local orchard today for a few. Enjoyed your day book! judy
I love apples, but haven’t had a Honey Crisp. Yum!
I have heard some wonderful things about “Fireproof”. It sounds great!
My daughter is excited about being in the chili cookoff again and is determined to beat our associate pastor. LOL!
Hope your busy week goes well!

I’m making chili, too, on Wednesday where it’s forecast in our area to be a rainy day. Thanks for sharing the picture of the honeycrisp apples. Now I want one!
I was wondering how you got that to look that way. I have tried Honeycrisps. They are much like my favorite apple, Gala.
I am going to make a note of the Burritos. Sounds like something I might want to try.
I haven’t seen the honeycrisp apples in our area, but I will have to start looking!
Thanks for your sharing your daybook!

I doubt I’ll find those apples in our stores, but maybe someday when I am vacationing! The look so good.
The White House
I can’t wait to see that movie. It’s not opening here until Friday. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that kind of apple. I’m going to have to get a melon baller. That’s a great tip.

I have never had a honeycrisp.
Must try one of those now that I am aware of them.
We are going to the orchard at week’s end.
mmmmm…….
What a fantastic picture! I’ve heard good things about Fireproof – I’m just waiting until my husband is finished with his Navy school (October 24 can’t come soon enough!) and then we’ll be able to have a movie date.
Have a great week!
Pretty picture, I love HoneyCrisp apples!
Our favorite chili is also one of those recipes that wouldn’t make it in a chili cook-off, but it’s oh so comforting and tasty!
The mellon baller is quite the interesting idea. I made some homemade applesauce earlier this week and decoring was no fun.
Never heard of a honeycrisp apple.
